BD2.7m in Procurement Requests Discussed at Governance Committee Meeting

Procurement requests by government entities were discussed at the 60th Information and Communication Technology Governance Committee videoconference meeting, chaired by Mr. Mohamed Ali Al-Qaed, Chief Executive of the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA).

The Committee covered a range of topics and Procurement Requests submitted by government entities, including the project of the Ministry of Education to equip a number of public schools with the necessary IT equipment needed for the educational process in those schools, and also to facilitate the work of the administrative staff, in addition to the project of  supplying laptops that support digital applications  specialized in developing students' skills in order to achieve the aspirations of the ministry through His Majesty King Hamad Schools of the Future Project and the Digital Empowerment in Education in Bahrain.

The committee also discussed the progress of the Open Data Portal Development Project at the Information & eGovernment Authority, which aims to provide a platform that enables individuals, businesses and institutions to access all open government data from  one place to make use of it in their decision making .

The committee concluded its discussions with a set of projects and Procurement Requests related to improving government systems and information technology services, enhancing the security level of infrastructure, in addition to ensuring the business Continuity in government entities.

The Committee reviewed the implementation of the decisions from previous meetings and followed up on the progress of its work.

The meeting was chaired by Mr. Mohammed Ali Al-Qaed Chief Executive of Information & eGovernment Authority, and in attendance were Committee Vice Chairman and Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) Deputy Chief Executive of Electronic Transformation, Dr. Zakareya Ahmed Al Khaja;  Ministry of Education Undersecretary for Policies, Strategies, and Performance, Nawal Al Khater; Ministry of Finance and National Economy Director of Financial Systems Development, University of Bahrain Dean of the College of Information Technology, Dr. Hessa Jassim Al Junaid, and Information Technology Project Management Consultant, Dr. Ali AlSoufi. Also present were the committee’s support team.
