BD 2.6 million Government Procurement Requests Discussed at 61st Governance Committee Meeting

The ICT Governance Committee Meeting held its 61st meeting chaired by Mr. Mohamed Ali Al Qaed, Chief Executive of the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA). During the meeting, which was held virtually, the committee discussed number of projects and purchase requests submitted by the government entities with estimated cost about BD2.6 million.


At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Al-Qaed welcomed Dr. Eglal Faisal Al-Alawi, the new joiner to the committee representing the Ministry of Health (MOH), and he stressed that her involvement is an added value to the committee which will contribute greatly towards achieving its goals. The Chairman also praised the efforts of Dr. Maryam Al-Hajri, the previous representative of MOH in the committee, wishing her all the success and best endeavor.  


During the meeting, the Governance Committee reviewed a number of topics on the agenda, including the project of network infrastructure development at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs which will take place through the establishment of a secure and advanced wireless network covering the ministry and all its subsidiaries in order to enhance integration and network quality as well as reliability between the  ministry   and its various subsidiaries.


The committee also discussed the project of developing and improving the Wage Protection System (WPS) at Labor Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), which facilitate the monitoring of private sector entities’ commitment towards wages payment as agreed and on time via financial transfers through banks and financial institutions accredited by the Central Bank of Bahrain.


The committee concluded its meeting by discussing a set of projects and governmental purchase requests related to improving information technology services at several government entities, enhancing the security level of the IT infrastructure and ensuring the business continuity in government agencies, as well as reviewing the decisions taken during its previous meetings, along with following up on the work in-progress.  


The meeting was chaired by Mr. Mohammed Ali Al-Qaed, Chief Executive of iGA, and in attendance of Dr. Zakareya Ahmed Al Khaja, Committee Vice Chairman and Deputy CE for eTransformation at iGA,  Nawal Al-Khater, Undersecretary for Policies, Strategies, and Performance at Ministry of Education, Dr. Khalid Ahmed Al Almutawah, Deputy CE for Operations and Governance at iGA, Dr. Ejlal Faisal Al-Alawi Assistant Undersecretary For Public Health at the Ministry of Health, Mr. Abdullah Ahmed Dhaif, Director of the Financial Systems Development at the Ministry of Finance and National Economy, Mrs. Linda Mohammed Janahi Executive Director of Corporate Operations in Economic Development Board, and Mr. Ahmed Abdulnabi Alqayyim Director of Services & Information Technology at Office of the Prime Minister. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Ali Al-Soufi, IT Consultant as well as the support team of the ICT Governance Committee.
