Government Procurement Requests Worth BD1.5 Million Discussed at ICTGC Committee Session

Procurement requests by government entities valued at approximately BD1.5 million were discussed at an Information and Communication Technology Governance Committee (ICTGC) meeting, chaired by Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) Chief Executive, Mohammed Ali Al Qaed and held via videoconference on 17 August, 2022.


The meeting covered the automation of bills at the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA), which involves developing internal procedures for monitoring applications and numbering of documents, and then linking them to EWA’s main system as part of its digital transformation efforts.


The committee also discussed providing photocopying machines and scanners to the Ministry of Education as part of its preparations for the new school year. The Ministry aims to meet the demand for large quantities of paper at all schools by providing high speed devices with low consumption.


Also on the agenda were a number of projects and procurement requests related to improving infrastructure systems and updating support and maintenance licenses at a number of government entities. In addition, the Committee reviewed implemented decisions from previous meetings.


In attendance were ICTGC Vice Chairman and iGA Deputy CE of Electronic Transformation, Dr. Zakareya Ahmed AlKhajah; Ministry of Education Undersecretary for Policies, Strategies, and Performance, Nawal Al Khater; Ministry of Health Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health, Dr. Maryam Ibrahim Al-Hajri; iGA Deputy CE of Operations and Governance, Dr. Khalid Ahmed Almutawa; Ministry of Finance and National Economy Director of Financial Systems Development, Abdullah Ahmed Dhaif; Director of Services and Information Technology at the Prime Minister’s Office, Ahmed Al Qayem; and University of Bahrain Dean of the College of Information Technology, Dr. Hessa Jassim Al Junaid. The event was also attended by the committee’s support team.
